This team goes into a tailspin after the Allstar break every year. That reflects on the manager. We had enough talent to do better than 64 wins IMO.

The 2nd half woes are def troubling. I'm not trying to be a smartass...with our talent how many wins should we have while playing in the AL East? 70?

I'm not saying we should have competed for the crown, but is everyone in the division that much better than we are? Is Toronto more talented than we are?

I think Toronto is more talented...they have more MLB ready talent. Holliday is amazing and Adam Lind would be our best power hitter...

Most of our talent is under 25 years old...they're improving. Just not consistent over 162 games and I don't think thats Trembley's fault.

Toronto had one excellent starter, one solid starter and a solid lineup of guys in their thirties. I think they're going to fall off a cliff next year. That little run that had early in the year in 09 when they overachieved was the only reason why they finished ahead of us this year.

Hill & Lind had great years. Do you think Hill is just a one year wonder?

Hill and Lind are both solid star guys. Hill doesn't get on base enough, but Lind was a stud. Scutaro is a FA, Wells sucks, Barajas and Overbay are old, and they gave away Rios.

Agreed. Hill's obp is too low. Don't forget about Snider. They'll be nothing once Holliday is gone.

and thanks for creating this thread, doyler. I was so tired of seeing that "burned" thread or whatver...

I agree with the need for a vet arm and a legit cleanup hitter....Last I read was Lackey to the mets....We desperately need a vet...our young arms were looking to Guthrie for advice!
Sorry, no trading arms for bats. We are not ready to contend in 2010. We can find one for 2011. I love our core of pitchers. Gonzo is a stud, but it would cost too much. Snyder and Aubry can fill in for a year.

Aubrey is most likely a AAAA guy.

Snyder, on the other hand, is talking about how he wants the job and plans on winning it in spring training. That would be big if he could step up and keep the rookie mo going.

Roch over at MASN has a few projections for '10 from Bill James:

http://masnsports.com/2009/11/bill-j...s-for-201.html

Matt Wieters: .311 with 20 homers, 92 RBIs and an .865 OPS
Nick Markakis: .300 with 21 homers, 103 RBIs, 101 runs scored, .855 OPS
Adam Jones: .284 with 22 homers, 83 RBIs and an .804 OPS
Brian Roberts: .281 with 12 homers, 65 RBIs and 103 runs scored.
Nolan Reimold: A .292 average, 29 homers, 84 RBIs and an .898 OPS

Brad Bergesen 10-9, 4.18 ERA
Jeremy Guthrie 12-12, 4.38 ERA.

Wow, if Reimold hits .292, 29 HRs, and 84 RBIs that would be sick.

I expect Bergesen to do better than 10-9 with a 4.18 ERA. He was 7-5 in 19 games pitched with a 3.43 ERA this year. I expect him to only improve. I'm gonna say 14-7 with a 3.89 ERA. And I don't think that is wishful thinking, he is by far the best young pitcher I've seen for us in a looooong time. Just the way he delivers the ball is nice, he has such great movement, command, and velocity. I am very high on him. I hope he recovered from that shin injury, I didn't follow his rehabilitation from that, I hope he is okay. I remember watching that game live and thinking, "dammit." That was a shot right off his ankle. Dude was tough enough to hobble off the field into the training room.

I am interested to see Josh Bell, Brandon Erbe, and Brandon Snyder. What's the prognosis on Troy Patton? He was the biggest piece of the Tejada trade. When I found out he had a torn labrum I was upset. I don't wanna just chalk him up as a loss like Adam Loewen.

Pretty sweet watching Snyder hitting 3rd & Marrero hitting 4th in the AFL...both are killing it

Damn that would be a pretty good offense if all that happened. If we can bring in a power hitter and a solid veteran pitcher, we could be dangerous next year!

Maybe we go after Jermaine Dye. The White Sox bought out his 2010 contract.
