While I hate to see Mickey retire I do believe this will really be the beginning of the end for the Bowden & Co. era. It's been a GREAT run, the 90s were the best of times for FSU fans and I know we all want to get back to that point. I'm looking forward to seeing what Fisher can do after getting his staff in place and brining in some of his own recruits. It would be great to see FSU football return to glory.

I hate when we let Nike push this stuff on us. Just like the Blackout "Unconquered" uniforms, it's all a marketing gimmick and we buy into it.

The helmet, and even the gloves, I don't mind as much, but the uniform itself is just awful.

Garnet and Gold. How hard is that? Not dark red and black.

Not to mention, for whatever reason, we always play our worst game of the year when we do these special uniform games. Although we maybe already got that out of the way this season with the USF game and the "whiteout."

These look ridiculous, the helmet not so much. Heck, even the gloves aren't too bad but the unis themselves are terrible. Hopefully this will be a one time deal and we can put it all behind us.

Funny story from the Tomahawk Nation FSU blog:

Safety Myron Rolle will never forget a Thursday practice when Andrews told the defensive backs they had to shave their chest hair before getting on the plane the next day, telling them they weren't "man enough to have hair on your chest anyway."

With that, Andrews exposed his "jungle" of chest hair. A player then bet Andrews that he wouldn't remove his chest hair and with that ...

"And he starts grabbing chunks of hairs off his chest and ripping it out," said Rolle, now in England on a Rhodes Scholarship. "We all started yelling and running away like little school girls. ... That's the Bowden family through all of this. After Bobby's dust up with the media a little over a month ago where he was trying to put his foot down and talking tough about the power he held in deciding to coach as long as he wanted, things have quieted down a lot. But Anne keeps spouting this stuff out about Bobby and digs her husband into a deeper hole with the boosters.

For anyone who hasn't seen Anne's new statements:

"Years ago," she said of her husband, "I said 80 is probably a good year to cut it off. But he was going great, had a legacy going and everything. And then, we (the Seminoles) took that downturn. I said, 'Look, if you want to stay on and try to get that back . . . His quarterback's going to be a senior next year, and he wants to be there for his senior year. That's only right. And all those young kids are going to be a year older.

"He's planning on another year."

If FSU doesn't give it to him, she says, "You know, we don't need the university as much as they need us -- as much as they need him and his connections and reputation and everything. If they want to pull that trick, we'll just shake the dirt off our feet and go to Europe or go on a long cruise or something."

I have a feeing that these are thoughts spoken by everyone at the Bowden family dinner table, not just her own isolated beliefs. And the boosters are tired of it. Completely fed up with it. He's not coming back on his "own terms," but nobody is against him coming back for one more year in a ceremonial sense to walk the sidelines and act as a figure head as long as he stays out of Jimbo Fisher's way. But when his wife speaks out for him like this, it's just fuel on the fire.
